Police training at Hutchinson

Postby jonnyd » Thu Sep 30, 2010 9:52 am

There's an article in the Savannah Morning News about the Savannah-Chatham police using Hutchinson Island for vehicle training.

...vehicles through a road course that includes U-turns, serpentine movements and precision braking, officers must complete the test with lights and sirens turned on and at a speed of 40 mph.

Except for the lights and sirens it's no different than what we do. :P

Maybe we should invite them. They always pay us a visit at our events!

I thought it was funny that an officer jumped into a (well driven and fast) Miata at the last event and went for a ride. I can guarantee he came away with a way different perspective of how much his driving training still hasn't taught him.

I knew a guy when I was doing autocross in the Tennessee Region that did it with a Ford LTD with the 5.0 engine. How he managed to lug that beast around corners was just miraculous.
