David, I will be there 1st thing in the AM, I won't be running but will be available for computer assistance. Did you get the printer working? I can't remember for sure, I have an old HP Deskjet 693C that uses generic drivers if you need it. I'll check the boards, maybe call you before I leave.

See everyone there,

The printer worked a few weeks back. (I'm glad you posted. It reminded me to pullout the USB drive with the entry list for import.) I'll be glad to see you in the morning.

Good job on your first real event chair. Great job! I really appreciate it.

Don't tell Larry that I was really trying. That tall guy can really drive.

Great course!!!! I looooved it!

Unfortunately, I corded the rear tires and was spewing oil out a whole in my valve cover that wasn't there when I bought the thing...so I only took three runs and packed it up.

I took off early (bows head in shame) but it looked like the second heat was definitely laying down some good times!

Thanks to all who helped! A wonderful first event of the year!

David/Ian - you guys mentioned a website for used R25Bs..what were they again?

I received this email as part of a correspondence I was having with David Marcus today.

I mentioned to Teddie on the way home, that yesterday’s course was one of my all-time favorites. It flowed amazingly well, and my hands were shaking after every run, which means I had lot of fun. We will definitely be back.

It was nice of him to appreciate the day he and Teddie had with us. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the course. It was fun for me too but about 10 mph too fast for my gearing. Ran on the rev limiter in second gear for over 50% of the course. Third gear was ok but the shifting slowed me down. I believe it affected Kevin too. Might have to tighten the next one up a little bit, but keep the free flowing nature of this one.

Thanks for getting the results up so fast. I am not crazy about finishing a distant fifth in class, but it sure was a fast class. The summary appears to be reused from Savannah last week but the rest looks great.

That was an excellent course, I disagree though, it should not be tighter. The appropriate sections were there that allowed speed up to acceptable levels and bleed off, I never left 2nd gear after my initial shift. We can't try to tailor every round to a specific cars gearing for what is acceptable and what is not in a course. I don't post to be critical, but most of us are not in Miata's and the majority of last years courses were done in that tight fashion which would suit those cars better. I couldn't tell you how many times my gearing has not suited a course, stuck either redline or too low in 3rd. Those things just happen, but this course was superb and I do not want anything to detract from that. Excellent execution!

Darn, I left the Navy release forms in the trailer. That cost me an hour detour trip tonight. Off to the USPS.

Thanks for a great event. My son Dylan and I enjoyed the course and the site, we also had shaking hands after each run. Also thanks to everyone that helped push my car up on the trailer because of transmission trouble. We will try to make another event or two this year to enjoy this awesome site. Thanks to everyone!

I believe that Wednesday is February 10th. I will be there. David and Alan...please provide me with a checklist so I can make sure to do everything that is required to run the event. I am looking forward to increased responsibilities and hope that all goes well.

Oops, I asked for that! I do not remember a course being better received than that one in a long time. It flowed very well and was fast. It was as much Kevin's design as mine. I believe that it was the fastest course that the Jacksonville group has had in the three years I have been running. The only faster ones I have been on have been at Roebling Road where they have 100 foot slaloms and fast gates on the last half of the course.

These are supposed to be precision driving events and it is best to mix the course design up a bit to avoid favoring anyone. I have been involved in the set up since early last year. My roll has been as a collaborator as two or three of us refine the course while laying it out to make it work. I did it because I was seeing too many confusing courses and some, at other locations, were so tight and tricky that I stopped going. One was like driving in a Publix parking lot! I had one last year that was too tight...and we loosened it up after laying it out. I have a lot to learn. You will not see any tricks on any of my courses, but we do need turns and braking areas to make it a meaningful event.

I surveyed this course and have it laid out on my computer exactly as run. It will be used again. Alan suggested running it backwards which we can do by flipping it on the computer and making the start and finish work properly. We can control speeds by subtle changes...wider offsets, tighter slaloms, tighter corners. Nobody likes a too tight course, especially me, but we do need safe courses with some variety in the speeds.

We have eight events this year. Anyone wanting to design a course can do it on their own or work with me to make sure that we have a nice variety. Laying it out on paper before the event helps speed up the placement of cones. We then drive it to see how it looks and make changes as needed. I enjoy designing the courses and feel that they are getting better all the time.

I already have a course for next month. It is fast and flows very well. I think everyone will like it. I will bring it to the meeting Wednesday for comments and corrections.

you know, we have that whole runway to use. I'm not saying we have to use the whole thing (be hard for the corner workers) but having a longer course such as Sunday's is always a lot of fun. Tightening it up usually requires more cones and more setup time.

I have absolutely no complaints other than I was bouncing the rev limiter in multiple places. I'm scared of 3rd gear in this thing, I'm afraid I might have lift off if I punch it in 3rd! :)

Don't think I have anything planned for tomorrow night, so I'll try to make it. Dee will most likely be w/ me too.

I was very impressed with this course design. Not to toot mine and Bill's horn but it was one of the most flowing and fastest courses in years at Whitehouse. We are typically trying to utilize 5 set course designs for this year and rotating them. I believe it will benefit changes in car mods and driving skill to compare improvements on a per say set course. Hopefully these flowing and fast courses will attract more new drivers as well as nationally caliber drivers like last Sunday. As far as gear changes go for some of the cars  Maybe we can speed it up even more to stay in 3rd gear

I think we completely agree! The sea of cones when its too tight can be confusing, major kudos on finding a balance to meet requirements on speed and fun!

Called JB Racing tires and they had both the fronts and rears in stock. Fossport wants TWICE what JB charges and JB has full treaded ones.

Thanks though! Should have known to call "ol' faithful" first anyway. ;) :)

Hey David, I was wondering if I would be able to get the trophy from the last event in 09 if you still have it, and also the end of year trophy if you have it. Also if trophies are given out at the meetings if someone could hold mine for me to pick up at a later date. My work schedule is all over the place and I don't get uff until 8.
Thanks everyone, had a great time sunday
