Street Survival Discussion

The email to the mayor is a beginning and my only contribution so far. If he or someone from his office responds positively, then we can begin serious preparations for the school.
As for location, I stated that we probably prefer the stadium as it would be centrally located and provide a nice backdrop in case the local news media became interested. The city has many schools with large parking lots that may work as well. I am sure that a location can be found.

I do not want to be the leader of this effort. I have a business to run and while we are not as busy as we were several years ago, it still takes up most of my time and provides plenty of stress to my life. I am willing to offer support in almost any other way.

I have seen this program first hand. I actually sat in on a classroom session, and observed the outside driving portion of this program. Their program is terrible and costs 3 times as much. Street Survival puts their program to SHAME!

I was looking through an automotive magazine the other day and was looking at the Tire Rack ad. I noticed that they have a DC in Midway, GA. They are the title sponsor for the Street Survival program. It is about 120 miles, 2 hour drive from Jax, and they have some large lots that we could use for a Street Survival there. I contacted Bill Loring from the Tire Rack and asked him to check and see if we could use this facility to have a Street Survival school. He has been an instructor for many of these schools. He works out of the South Bend office. He will check and get back to me on this. I will let you guys know when I know more. . .

Sorry I have been out of touch with you guys for a few months. I lost my job back at the end of March, so I have been a little bit busy trying to find employment. I want to come to the event this weekend, but cannot afford to and cannot take the chance of breaking my car either right now. I will be at the meeting next week to see if we can get a planning committee together to get this program going. Another area that I thought we could approach would be Craig Municipal Airport. They have lots of space on some tarmacks. Just a thought. Anybody have any connections there?

Wren attended the Clay County Sheriff's Teen driving challenge at European Driving School last month. She drove the Volvo S70.

I just signed her up for the October 2nd TRSS put on by Central Florida Region, driving the Astro.

I am assuming this will be your first TRSS event that you will be attending. Look it over and volunteer if you can so you can get some experience with running the events. You will see that they are quite simple, and with enough volunteers, run pretty smoothly. I found a job and should begin at the end of the month. I also got a call today about another better job! Guess when it rains, it pours! Wish me luck!

I have not had time to work on this program at all this summer. I have been job hunting and I had to move, so things have been pretty busy. I did talk to Shawn Parks at the last event and he has some contacts in the Navy that we can talk to about holding an event at the airfield. He thinks if we can get them as sponsors, then they would honor the date and not cancel last minute on us. I think this is a good location and option that we should pursue. Once things settle down a bit, I will contact Shawn to discuss this further.
